Tricare CF Dietician Coverage assistance
Hello, I would greatly appreciate if any one has any recommendations or information about Tricare coverage for specialized CF dieticians. Currently, we have several pediatric patients that are referred outside of our military clinic and receive their CF care at specialized pediatric hospitals for their routine Pulmonology visits. However, these children have been unable to receive specialized dietician consults along with their CF team visits because Tricare will not cover the services stating that the children can receive dietary consults with the dieticians on-post. However, as I am sure you all agree, CF dieticians ...

Getting the cost of Mini One AMT coverered
We have twin girls with CF. They are 11 months old and after battling with ng feeds for the last 10 months- they had Mini One tubes placed last week. Going into the surgery- the doctors told us that we would have 3 mini ones covered each year through insurance. But now as we are trying to get our replacements ordered- insurance is telling us that they only cover $36 of the $190 cost because that is what the government says a g tube should cost. Does this sound accurate based on anyone's experiences? We do not qualify for gov't assistance through SSI, BCMH, or Medicaid. Any thoughts or ideas or similar experiences woul...

Beth Sufian's guide to insurance
Passing along this information: ---- Children and adults with cystic fibrosis (CF) need some form of insurance coverage to help pay for medical care and medications needed to treat the disease. Beth Sufian, the author, has developed a general guide with Gilead Sciences, Inc. to assist people with CF, their families, and healthcare providers in identifying potential health insurance policies offered by an employer, and government programs such as Social Security benefits, Medicaid, Medicare, and state-government programs. In addition, the Affordable Care Act may help people with CF access coverage. To download a co...

Hope for Brandon!
This is a donation page for Brandon Delacruz. He is a 23 year old, suffering from Cystic Fibrosis. He has recently been given a year left to live. He doesn't want anything extravagant or fancy, but a lot of his friends have been wanting to chip in and donate in hopes for a "Make a Wish" type of fund for him, so that he and his wife (me) can do something with it. Maybe a small vacation, help towards buying a scooter, or a portable oxygen tank, something useful that will really help him. We want to make him happy, so please help this remarkable young man! http://www.gofundme.com/hopeforbrandon (Source: Cysti...

Do you have to claim assistance on your taxes?
Does anyone know if the CFPAP and/or the manufacturer patient assistance programs send out 1099 forms? I'd like to know if I need to budget paying taxes on the amount of assistance I get. (Source: Cystic Fibrosis Payment Assistance Resources Forum)

Insurance Question
We have BC/BS insurance through my husband and it's a lousy plan. The deductible is $10K/ind. and $15K/fam. and our WEEKLY premium just jumped up to $230/wk, an increase of $100/wk. My husband doesn't want to change jobs if he doesn't have to and isn't sure he could find anything better anyhow. I'm on Medicare A&B, but my prescriptions are the problem. We've been looking into alternate private ins. plans for the whole family or something just for me to pick up the prescriptions. Humana is coming to talk next week. Are any of you on Medicare and use Humana? What do I need to be cautious of? Do you have recommen...

How do you guys deal?
I recently returned from Walgreens empty handed because my card got declined. Thankfully this time I will be able to return tomorrow and get the pills I need. How do you guys deal with the extreme cost of medicine? Some corporation is profiteering off of my life and I have trouble dealing with this. I have pretty much run out of drugs to help me escape that don't negatively effect my health. I leave walgreens once a month wishing I could murder the people responsible for charging so much for my medicine. How do you guys escape this?
