Perioperative management of mastocytosis
ConclusionIntraoperative anaphylaxis can be the first presenting sign of mastocytosis. Patients with mastocytosis who received chronic antimediator therapy and/or preoperative prophylactic medications had an uneventful surgical course. (Source: Journal of Anesthesia)

An investigation into the utility of diphenhydramine after one failed euploid frozen embryo transfer
It was first proposed in the 1950 ’s that histamines stimulate endometrial decidualization. Experiments in rats demonstrated that intraperitoneal injection of pyrathiazine, a histamine-releasing compound, induced a decidual response, while treatment with chronic chemical histamine releasers resulted in the depletion of endogenous histamine resources, and subsequently prevented endometrial decidualization from occurring [1]. In clinical practice, antihistamines have been used to improve embryo transfer outcomes, without supporting data. (Source: Fertility and Sterility)

Performance evaluation of PdO/ CuO TiO2 photocatalytic membrane on ceramic support for removing pharmaceutical compounds from water
This study investigated photocatalytic degradation of pharmaceutical compound using CuO or PdO –TiO2 membrane. The synthesized membranes were characterized by some techniques including X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), dynamic light scattering (DLS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The structural properties confirmed that the photocatalytic membranes were successfully prepared on ceramic supports. The PdO-TiO2 and CuO-TiO2 membranes were employed as photocatalytic membranes to degrade metronidazole (MNZ) and diphenhydramine (DPH) in aqueous solutions, respectively. S...

Ondansetron: recommended antiemetics for patients with acute pancreatitis? a population-based study
Conclusion: In ICU acute pancreatitis patients, ondansetron administration was associated with better 90-day outcomes, while results were similar in terms of in-hospital and overall outcomes, and the recommended minimum total dose might be suggested to be 4–8 mg. (Source: Frontiers in Pharmacology)

A review of 95 pit viper envenomations in Northcentral Florida (2018-2020)
This study's primary objectives were to record the clinical abnormalities and treatment responses associated with envenomation and their relation to outcome. Approximately 80% of the bites involved the head region associated with varying degrees of hemorrhagic lymphedema. Some of the most common additional symptoms observed were; hypotension (10%), cardiac dysrhythmias (17%), and coagulopathy (21%). Treatment in most cases consisted of intravenous fluids, antivenom, and analgesic drugs. Blood products were used as indicated for anemia and persistent bleeding. The average dose of the F('ab')2 was 1-2 vials. Additional vials...
