Radiographic Outcomes in Paediatric Bronchiectasis and Factors Associated with Reversibility
CONCLUSIONS: This first large cohort confirms bronchiectasis in children is often reversible with appropriate management. Younger aged children and those with lesser radiographic severity at diagnosis were most likely to achieve radiographic reversibility whilst those with PsA infection were least likely.PMID:38631023 | DOI:10.1164/rccm.202402-0411OC (Source: American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine)

Autoimmunity Against Surfactant Protein B Is Associated with Pneumonitis During Checkpoint Blockade
CONCLUSIONS: Our data suggest that the co-occurrence of surfactant protein-B-specific immunoglobulin G autoantibodies and CD4+ T cells is associated with the development of pneumonitis during ICI therapy. Pre-treatment levels of these antibodies may represent a potential biomarker for elevated risk of developing pneumonitis and on-treatment levels may provide a diagnostic aid.PMID:38626354 | DOI:10.1164/rccm.202311-2136OC (Source: American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine)

Recessively Inherited Deficiency of Secreted WFDC2 (HE4) Causes Nasal Polyposis and Bronchiectasis
CONCLUSIONS: WFDC2 dysfunction defines a novel molecular etiology of bronchiectasis characterized by the deficiency of a secreted component of the airways. A commercially available blood test combined with genetic testing allows its diagnosis. Lung Tissue Multi-Layer Network Analysis Uncovers the Molecular Heterogeneity of COPD
CONCLUSIONS: A novel multi-layer network analysis is able to identify clinically relevant COPD patient communities. Patients with similarly low FEV1 and emphysema can have molecularly distinct small airways and immune response patterns, indicating that different endotypes can lead to similar clinical presentation.PMID:38626356 | DOI:10.1164/rccm.202303-0500OC (Source: American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine)
