The Efficacy of Different Triptans for the Treatment of Acute Headache in Pediatric Migraine: A Systematic Review
CONCLUSION: We found that rizatriptan (good tolerability profile with a dose of 5 mg) and sumatriptan (oral administration) had higher efficiency as compared to other triptans. Regardless of type or dose, all triptans are generally well tolerated by patients, but a few adverse effects such as light-headedness (sumatriptan), nasopharyngitis, and, muscular spasms (sumatriptan/ naproxen), somnolence, and dry mouth (rizatriptan), and dizziness (zolmitriptan group) were reported with the triptans.PMID:37209053 (Source: Indian Pediatrics)

Naproxen chemoprevention induces proliferation of cytotoxic lymphocytes in Lynch Syndrome colorectal mucosa
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings show that daily exposure of naproxen promotes T-cell proliferation in the colonic mucosa, which paves way for developing combination of immunoprevention strategies including naproxen for LS patients.PMID:37207208 | PMC:PMC10189148 | DOI:10.3389/fimmu.2023.1162669 (Source: Cancer Control)

Microplastics as vectors of chemical contaminants and biological agents in freshwater ecosystems: Current knowledge status and future perspectives
Environ Pollut. 2023 May 15:121829. doi: 10.1016/j.envpol.2023.121829. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMicroplastics (MPs) are becoming ubiquitous, and their environmental fate is becoming an issue of concern. Our review aims to synthesize current knowledge status and provide future perspectives regarding the vector effect of MPs for chemical contaminants and biological agents. The evidence in the literature indicates that MPs are a vector for persistent organic pollutants (POPs), metals and pharmaceuticals. Concentrations of chemical contaminant in orders of six-fold higher on MPs surfaces than in the surrounding environmen...

A randomized, double-blind pilot study of analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects of naproxen sodium and acetaminophen following dental implant placement surgery
Discussion: Naproxen sodium was more effective than acetaminophen in reducing post-operative pain and systemic inflammation following surgical placement of one or two dental implants. Further studies are needed to determine whether these findings are applicable to more complex implant cases and how they affect clinical outcomes following implant placement.Clinical Trial Registration:ClinicalTrials.gov, identifier NCT04694300 (Source: Frontiers in Pharmacology)

Advanced oxidation and a metrological strategy based on CLC-MS for the removal of pharmaceuticals from pore & amp; surface water
Chemosphere. 2023 May 13:138847. doi: 10.1016/j.chemosphere.2023.138847. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn this work, it is studied the photolysis, electrolysis, and photo-electrolysis of a mixture of pharmaceutics (sulfadiazine, naproxen, diclofenac, ketoprofen and ibuprofen) contained in two very different types of real water matrices (obtained from surface and porewater reservoirs), trying to clarify the role of the matrix on the degradation of the pollutants. To do this, a new metrological approach was also developed for screening of pharmaceuticals in waters by capillary liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (CLC-MS)...

Evaluating ionic liquids for its potential as eco-friendly solvents for naproxen removal from water sources using COSMO-RS: Computational and experimental validation
Environ Res. 2023 May 11:116058. doi: 10.1016/j.envres.2023.116058. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAn emerging contaminant of concern in aqueous streams is naproxen. Due to its poor solubility, non-biodegradability, and pharmaceutically active nature, the separation is challenging. Conventional solvents employed for naproxen are toxic and harmful. Ionic liquids (ILs) have attracted great attention as greener solubilizing and separating agent for various pharmaceuticals. ILs have found extensive usage as solvents in nanotechnological processes involving enzymatic reactions and whole cells. The employment of ILs can enhance t...
